While we are incredibly grateful to our supporters, we need more help to ensure we can continue making a difference in the lives of as many young people and affected by cancer in Hawke's Bay.

Being a local charity means that 100 percent of your support remains in Hawke's Bay, for Hawke's Bay people. Below you will find a a range of ways to get involved and make a difference in your local community.

Make a donation

As a not for profit we do not receive any government funding and we rely on donations and fundraising events to be able to provide support to our members.

However, we also understand for many people, life is busy. You want to support a cause but simply do not have the time, this is where donation is a great option.

Every dollar you donate will make a difference to the lives of our Hawke's Bay members living with cancer. What we raise in the Bay, stays in the Bay, benefiting our members and their families. Providing them with the face to face, wrap around support they deserve.

We are always looking for new and fun ways to raise both money and awareness for The Acorn Project Hawke's Bay. If you have an idea we would love to hear from you! We have found that mixing your talents and passion with a hint of humour make the best ingredients for a successful event.

No matter what your idea is, a fancy dress bike ride, headshave, teacher or club wax off, mufti day, quiz, black tie event, or an auction, if you would like to support us, we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer (n.) is generally considered an altruistic activity and is intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. In return, this activity produces a feeling of self-worth and respect; however, there is no financial gain.

We rely on and value the volunteers we have and welcome others, everyone comes different life experiences, qualities and ideas.

Our volunteers take on many hats, from helping out with the preparation for fundraising events to offering professional friendship and support to our members, or providing supervision and assistance at  camps and over night activities.

Some of our volunteers have personal experience with cancer and want to give back and some simply have big hearts. The possibilities are endless and any contribution is valued and welcomed.

People who want to help are always welcome and we try our best to find a suitable role for everyone who reaches out to offer us their support and kindness.

If you are considering volunteer work and would like to talk it through please contact us, or complete the form below and email it to us.

Add to your community service log

Would you like to add some hours to your community service log and make a difference at the same time? If so please contact Kerrie via email to see if there is an ongoing project you can get involved with to support the work that The Acorn Project Hawke's Bay is doing.

If you are completing The William Pike Challenge or Duke of Edinburgh Award NZ, this is a great opportunity for you to give back in the community.

We are often in need of help to pack Take A Kid To Footy bags during The Magpies season, or you could be one of our amazing marshals or helpers at The Mitre 10 MEGA Walk.

You may also have your own unique idea of how you can help us out and clock up your service hours at the same time, we would love to hear from you.
